Dr. Sonu Goel is a renowned public health expert with an extensive background in health management and community medicine. Currently, he serves as a Professor of Health Management at the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, where his work integrates the domains of medical education, research, and public health management. With a career marked by academic excellence and impactful contributions to public health, Dr. Goel has established himself as a leader in the field.

 Dr. Goel holds an impressive array of qualifications, including an MBBS, MD, and a PhD from Maastricht University, Netherlands. His academic affiliations extend internationally, as an Adjunct Professor at both Swansea University, UK, and Limerick University, Ireland. He has been awarded several fellowships, including as a Fellow of the International Medical Sciences Academy (FIMSA), the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (FIAPSM), and the Indian Public Health Association (FIPHA).

 Furthermore, Dr. Goel has held key leadership roles, such as Director of the e-Resource Centre for Tobacco Control, Director of e-Learning for Public Health, and Director of the International Public Health Management Development Program—a flagship initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Through these roles, he has successfully trained over 1,400 healthcare professionals from 95 countries, contributing significantly to global health capacity building.

 In the academic sphere, Dr. Goel is a prolific author and editor, having written or edited nine books, including a widely regarded volume on hospital administration published by Elsevier Pvt. Ltd. His research contributions include over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 38 book chapters, and an impressive 12 national films focused on public health programs. A frequent international speaker, he has delivered over 70 national and 15 international lectures and workshops. As a leading researcher, Dr. Goel has spearheaded over 50 extramural research projects as Principal investigator, solidifying his reputation as a thought leader and a driver of health policy and research innovation.

 Dr. Goel has been honored with 13 prestigious awards, including the Public Health Excellence of India Award conferred by the Union Health Minister. He is particularly recognized for his pioneering work in tobacco control, including initiatives such as Tobacco-Free Punjab and Chandigarh Smoke-Free Punjab. Additionally, he has received multiple international research scholarships from esteemed institutions such as Maastricht University (Netherlands), Johns Hopkins University (USA), and the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI).
